About

I'm Stacy Wiest, a passionate educator with a mission to transform the reading experiences for children who are dyslexic or struggle with reading.

My teaching journey began at Northern State University, where I earned my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. While this was a significant step, my dedication to helping struggling readers led me to further training and specialization. Nine years later, I embraced the Orton-Gillingham and Lindamood-Bell methodologies, which have since become the cornerstones of my teaching philosophy.

My career unfolded over 11 years in the traditional classroom setting. However, a pivotal moment in my career occurred when I pursued a Master's degree in PreK-12 Administration at the University of South Dakota. This experience broadened my perspective on education and reinforced my commitment to making a difference in the lives of individual students.

The last six years of my career have been truly transformative. As a private tutor, I have rekindled my passion for helping struggling readers and students with dyslexia. These students, their progress, and their unwavering determination have inspired me to broaden my reach and provide support beyond my local area.

Now, after 23 years of classroom teaching, I'm excited to take my tutoring business to the online world. My online sessions are tailored to engage students of all ages, offering a highly individualized approach.

My tutoring process is rooted in comprehensive assessments and goal-setting. After an initial assessment, I work closely with parents to develop personalized goals and a clear plan for achieving them. Periodic assessments help track progress and celebrate milestones along the way.

My teaching philosophy is guided by the belief that every student's brain learns differently. I employ Orton-Gillingham and Lindamood-Bell reading strategies, integrate Primitive Reflex exercises, and address handwriting challenges. The result is increased confidence, reduced frustration, and a significant reduction in stress for both the student and their family.

If your child, or someone you know, struggles with reading and spelling, I'm here to help. Feel free to reach out to me at:
